Sacred Loon Tea
Sacred Loon is my signature tea—a heartfelt tribute to a cherished memory and the kindness of a former co-worker from India. During long Minnesota winters, she would wake early to prepare her homemade chai and bring it to me at shift change. I’d sip it quietly during nurse morning report, the warmth of her gesture wrapping around me just as much as the tea itself. Though this blend isn’t her exact recipe, it captures the spirit of those moments—her generosity, her culture, and the comfort shared in a cup.
This chai-inspired blend begins with Assam—the same bold tea used in Thai milk tea—then layers in the grounding warmth of cardamom, cinnamon, and ginger, with a delicate hint of vanilla bean. It’s not overly sweet, as many American chai blends tend to be, but rather deeply comforting and earthy.
***Caffeine Level: High
Steeping Directions: This tea is meant to be as a tea ritual. Add 1 TBS to 6-8oz milk of choice. Slowly heat on medium-to-medium high heat consistency stirring, as to not scorch the milk. Bring the temp up right before boiling (about 15 min). Remove from the heat and allow to cool 10 min. Strain tea through a mesh strainer, serve warm, sip and enjoy.
Ingredients: Assam Tea leaves, Cinnamon Bark, Cacao Shells, Cardamom, Madagascar Vanilla Bean, Ginger Root, Clove, Star Anise, Love & Magic.
